To encourage young generation to explore space science, we welcome students who are interested in this event to participate in our public welfare program. ISEA will work with Magikid Torrance Lab to create a community with team collaboration led by experienced mentors and volunteers. We are not charging for our public welfare programs, please donate if you would like to support us!
Python is an easy-to-learn programming language which can do almost everything in software programming projects and applications, and Python is a powerful tool for from learn entry level coding all the way up to data science and AI applications.
This course will teach the student from the absolute basics of programming in python to advance task. Student will learn to following concepts.
This course does not just teach students how to program in python. It teaches the principle and paradigm behind programming. It will allow the students to have extensive knowledge with python and an easier transition to another programming language in the future.
JavaScript is a text-based programming language used both on the client-side and server-side that allows you to make web pages interactive. Where HTML and CSS are languages that give structure and style to web pages, JavaScript gives web pages interactive elements that engage a user.
This part of the course will be focused on learning advanced JavaScript concepts. It will begin by recapping some coding concepts that carry over from Python, and then it will gradually move towards more difficult concepts, such as modular programming and asynchronous JavaScript. The class is taught through first explaining the concepts and then giving the students
mini-projects to put the concepts into practice.
After building a strong foundation with JavaScript the class will focus on first website development, then game development using JavaScript. These 2 parts of the course will be heavily project based and the students will be able to create their own animated, unique website and create fun games by applying the concepts learned in the first part of the course.
STEAM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. This is a charity program to provide educational, valuable service to our local community. It’s great for kids without any foundation of robotics or programming, and taught by our high school volunteers with knowledge and experience in robotics, and they will introduce STEM/robotics skills to young students through interactive practice and teamwork.
Please contact our staff at team@internationalsteam.org for class schedule and more details.
Physics is a concept ingrained into all of our everyday lives. From opening a door to running your computers: everything we experience in our physical world is governed by the laws of Physics.
In this course, we seek to show students how physics helps us understand our everyday environment and how physics and math plays into their lives. Though physics is based on natural laws, these laws are mathematically represented and learning these laws and how to use them requires the application of multiplication, addition, and division which students should be capable of. This course is aimed to be very fundamental and beginner friendly so as long as the student is willing to take up a bit of a challenge in learning, they will be able to succeed. By the end of this course, students should be able to better understand their physical world, learn how math is applied in our everyday lives, and understand basic concepts of physics for future physics courses they will be taking in the future.
Fusion 360 is Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, which allows students to create 3D. The software is produced by American company AutoDesk, who you may also recognize for their other CAD softwares such as tinkerCAD and inventor. Fusion allows students to further develop their CAD abilities through its more intricate, but not over-complex interface. It is a step up from introductory-level programs such as tinkerCAD and provides an intermediate step on the path to CAD proficiency. It is quite easy to get started in the software due to its simplified design, but it also possesses the ability for very complex designs to be rendered, which allows students to fully engage their creativity.
This course will cover the fundamentals of Fusion360, and then will progress to more complex concepts. Students will learn more in depth CAD techniques through fusion360 that will allow them to not only create complex designs but also learn the general methods of advanced CAD software that is commonly used in universities and companies.
Scratch is a free to use programming language designed to teach crucial programming concepts through the use of block-based programming. Starting with Scratch is beneficial as it allows the students to focus on core concepts as well as keeps them engaged in the material. Programming languages are difficult to get introduced to as they have a heavy focus on syntax in addition to the complex ideas they contain. Scratch simplifies the process by allowing students to focus on the ideas behind the core concepts by implementing the use of blocks to represent lines of code. Scratch also allows students to create entertaining programs while they apply the concepts they learn which keeps them interested and invested in the lessons. This increased focus on core concepts and engagement allows the students to easily learn coding concepts and transfer that knowledge to other languages in the future.
Minecraft Education Edition is a game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment. In this course students will use the platform to learn the basic concepts of programming logic and algorithms using block based coding. Each lesson covers new topics building on learnings from past classes. The lessons will be led by an instructor who will guide students through the content, allowing for the students to challenge themselves in coding problems, and offering help where needed. By the completion of this course, your child should grasp a general concept of coding languages, applying to future ease in learning higher programming languages!
Make a big scene bigger!
In this class, students will bring things into motion using After Effects, the industry-standard motion graphics and post-production software. They’ll learn how to utilize mixed digital media to create movie titles, slick transitions, cool typography, and even create a promotional video for a nonprofit of their choice--which they will receive volunteer hours for upon completion.
In addition, the language in After Effects is based on JavaScript. A blend of math and art animation, motion graphics presents a challenge and pairs well with anyone who knows or wants to learn JavaScript.
